Understanding and managing environmental impacts across our value chain

The environmental focus of Together Tomorrow is centred on the areas identified as most material to our business through our double materiality assessment: climate change, pollution, water and marine resources, and resource use and circular economy. These topics reflect where our activities can have the most significant environmental impacts and where environmental changes may affect our business and supply chain.

For more detailed information on our environmental performance, please see our latest Sustainability Reports.

Climate

Most of Hunkemöller's greenhouse gas emissions occur within the wider value chain, including raw material production, manufacturing and logistics. We work with suppliers and business partners to better understand environmental impacts and identify opportunities for improvement.

Our current focus areas include:

  • Improving energy efficiency in our own operations

  • Increasing renewable electricity use where available.

  • Engaging and supporting our suppliers to make energy efficiency improvements.

  • Increasing the use of preferred materials for product and packaging.

  • Where possible, reducing packaging waste in our value chain.

Chemicals and Water

Textile manufacturing can involve the use of chemicals and water-intensive processes. As a result, we address these topics through our Chemical Policy and environmental management programme, which set expectations for chemical management, wastewater quality and product compliance requirements. We work with suppliers on environmental management topics and, where issues are identified through our monitoring processes, corrective actions may be implemented and tracked in line with applicable requirements and standards. Environmental performance is monitored through recognised industry frameworks, including Higg FEM and the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines.

Materials and Circularity

Materials and product design are addressed as part of our Together Tomorrow Product pillar, which provides information on product materials and related initiatives.
